It's not often a Taran guitar comes up for sale, and even rarer for it to be an early model, therefore we are delighted to offer for sale this 2012 Taran Tirga Beag.
The Tirga Beag is larger than an OM in width and depth but not in length, making it feel very compact and comfortable for its size. This particular model features a stunning set of African blackwood for the back and sides, paired with an Italian spruce top, which makes for an irresistible combination to bring out the projection and tonal richness of the Tirga Beag's body shape.
In Taran's own words, "The Tirga Beag is designed with volume and headroom in mind enabling it to be heard in noisy sessions, but with a full rich tone perfect for smaller audiences and solo playing. It is perfect for flat picking and accompaniment with good separation between strong clear bass and thick trebles."
US fingerstyle guitarist Dustin Furlow won Taran's Young Player Bursary in 2021 and chose a Tirga Beag as the model that Taran built for him, and he also chose the same wood combination of African blackwood and Italian spruce.
While the features offered by Taran have changed and increased over the years since this guitar was built, and therefore it does not feature a cylindrical back or compresson braces, it still has the same DNA that is shared by all guitars that Rory Dowling builds and is a very special, tonally stunning instrument in its own right.
This guitar is ready for the stage, thanks to a dual pickup system of an LR Baggs Element and a JJB Prestige 330. The guitar features two jack sockets at its endpin - one for each pickup - therefore the tonal options for amplified sound are plentiful and the guitar sounds just as incredible plugged in as it does unplugged.
This guitar is in excellent condition, and comes with a Hiscox hard shell case.
