The Model 1 is the greatest legacy of Rick Turner's impressive career.
A guitar built to satisfy the requirements of Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham in 1979 after a conversation ensued when Rick was servicing John McVie's Alembic basses, the Model 1 has undergone very few revisions from the guitar that Rick delivered to Lindsey in 1979.
Lindsey was looking for a guitar to combine what he liked about the Stratocaster and Les Paul so that he didn't have to tour with both. What has become synonymous with Lindsey's tone ever since is what is now known as the Model 1 C Deluxe, with full body binding, the Turner signature humbucker with active electronics and a semi-parametric EQ.
Today, the Model 1 is offered as three different versions, from the most modestly priced Special, through to the 'bells and whistles' Deluxe and the Standard in between. While the Deluxe version features a five-piece laminate maple and purpleheart neck rather than a solid mahogany neck, the differences between the three versions are mostly decorative.
