Collection: Tom Sands Guitars

A sublime luthier from Yorkshire, building some of the very finest modern acoustic guitars, we've known Tom Sands for a number of years, since he completed his apprenticeship with the great Ervin Somogyi in California and returned to the UK to set up on his own.

Since then, Tom Sands Guitars has gone from strength to strength, with Tom developing his own models and pushing the boundaries both tonally and aesthetically for what a modern acoustic guitar can be.

Tom is now widely known as one of the world's premier luthiers, forging his own path by developing his models dubbed 'S', 'M' and 'L', and we are delighted to be working with Tom to offer the world exclusive first build of a new model in 2024.

Tom's model range acts as a perfect blank canvas to spec an instrument to your own specific requirements, and the huge variety of tonewoods that Tom has built with is testament to the multifaceted nature of his designs.

Model S

Tom's (current) smallest model, the Model S, is a 12-fret small-bodied acoustic with a 24.754" scale length and a 19" body length with 14.25" lower bout width. Don't be fooled by its small size, the Model S still has a tremendous amount of bass that gives it a fantastic balanced tone with plenty of character in the mids and treble.

On the 'S', as well as the 'M' and 'L', Tom offers modern options including a Florentine cutaway and a multi-scale/fan-fret design.

Sublime fingerstyle guitarist Will McNicol's first Tom Sands Signature guitar was a Model S in black limba & redwood.

Model M

Tom's mid-size Model M is available as a 12-fret or 14-fret instrument, has a 25" scale length and a 19.5" body length with 16" lower bout width and is a hugely versatile instrument.

Will McNicol recently took delivery of a new Tom Sands Signature guitar, this time a Model M14 with a Florentine cutaway in Madagascan rosewood and redwood.

Model L

Tom's Model L is his largest, taking inspiration from, and paying homage to, Ervin Somogyi's Modified Dreadnought that Tom got to know intimately during his apprenticeship with the man widely regarded as the ‘godfather of modern lutherie’. With its 25.5" scale length, 20" body length and 16" lower bout width, he Model L provides incredible headroom for strumming and digging in, while also presenting sparkling trebles to complement more delicate fingerstyle techniques.
