We are delighted to offer for sale this Martin Simpson Signature Model MKII by iconic British luthier Stefan Sobell.
Martin Simpson is a legend of the British folk scene, and first started collaborating with Stefan Sobell on a signature model in 2002.
What started as a bracing modification of Stefan’s Model 1 Sicilian build soon developed into a signature model which has been a mainstay of the Sobell catalogue ever since.
This particular Simpson Signature is the 51st that Stefan has made and was built in 2017.
It features a wonderful three-piece Brazilian Rosewood back with matching sides, plus a European spruce top. The guitar’s mahogany neck is topped with an ebony fretboard. The ebony theme continues with the bridge, too.
This Sobell comes to us in excellent condition with mild signs of wear. It includes two jack socket outputs due to the installed dual-pickup system consisting of an active Headway HE5 piezo pickup and active LR Baggs Lyric microphone, mirroring the type of dual-signal setup that Martin favours. Each pickup’s output signal can be treated separately thanks to the separate jack outputs.
The guitar includes its original Hiscox Artist fitted hard shell case.
