This 2014 Hatcher Greta is a sensational example of not only modern lutherie but also the intricacies and attention to detail that comes from a master luthier-built guitar.
There'a a lot going on with this gorgeous Greta. Bookmatched Honduran mahogany back and sides with a sapwood centre, paired with a golden-coloured Sitka spruce top. The mahogany neck has a cocobolo and maple laminated backstrip, with a black ebony fretboard and matching bridge.
When building the guitar, Mark Hatcher commented on his choice to give the guitar a walnut end block, "I'm going with a Black Walnut end block. This is a little heavier than the mahogany I usually use. Here is why I am using it. Mahogany for the body makes a very lightweight guitar, even by my standards, because this guitar also will have an active back it will have lot's of volume but will need a little help in the sustain department. A heavier end block accomplishes that with no penalties."
Quite unusually, the Greta has 13-fets to the body, which gives the best of both worlds in terms of providing a 635mm scale length but moving the position of the bridge that little bit further down into the lower bout, providing more sweetness to the tone.
The guitar has a stained glass design rosette comprised of pieces of cocobolo, mahogany and spalted tamarind, and features an open 'slotted' headstock with Schertler black slot type steel string tuners.
The guitar is in excellent+ condition and includes a Cedar Creek hardshell case also in excellent condition.
